UMass Voice Preliminary Screening

Rules and Regulations:
The contest is open to currently enrolled UMass students.  UMass identification is required.  This is a Karaoke event which will be using officially pre-recorded karaoke tracks.  All finalists are required to be present at the Taste of UMass held in the Mullins Center April 7.  Contestants are encouraged to choose songs which are lyrically clean, fun, up-beat and audience friendly.  There will be no free-style, beat boxing, live music, solo, band or independent music.
Contestants are encouraged to use any appropriate props, wardrobe or clothes to enhance their performance.  Any wardrobe/props must be approved by UMass Dining prior to performance.  Contestants will be judged on the following criteria:  vocal ability, stage presence performance skills, song choices and originality.  Each category will be worth 10 points for a total of 50 points.  The highest total score will be the winner.
Fourteen finalists will be chosen for the Taste of UMass from the Berkshire Dining Commons audition.  The UMass Voice Preliminary Screening is limited to the first 40 participants to sign up.  Judges’ decisions are final and not subject to review.
