Good Bye Seniors

How time flies. As the spring semester winds down rapidly, we are almost at the end of another school year. This is final exam week and Commencement is next weekend.

So for students packing in extra study time during finals, tonight our DCs have exam treats. We’re also extending our hours of operation, closing at 2:00 am.

And for the seniors who will be graduating shortly, this is an amazing, exciting time. Many of them will be seeking work as they start new careers, and some will go to grad school.

At UMass Dining, we always have mixed feelings about graduation. We are proud of our students’ accomplishments, but we are going to miss them, especially those we came to know as part of our student staff. We also have close to 3,500 seniors on our meal plan and I recognize many of their faces. I like to think of them as part of the UMass Dining family.

During the barbecue last week, we took group photos of seniors and gave them token gift bags. This past Friday night at the Senior Commencement Ball, I made a special trip to pop over to the event just to say good-bye to them. Some of the seniors came up to me and told me how much they have enjoyed the food.

So with those thoughts, this message goes out to the class of 2013. Seniors, we are going to miss you. It has been our pleasure to have you dine with us for these past four years. UMass students make the best customers, and the success of UMass Dining has a lot to do with your suggestions and support. Thank you.
