Brings the family together every time and starts all of the old stories flowing plus opens up the generations of family talking to each other about current life events. We make 2 trays of this for every family gathering and it is gone before every other dish. Usually another tray has to be made after Christmas party to keep the host family (aka Jacquelin & Kristine) happy. Making this is an all-day affair to make (5-6 hours) but the house smells fantastic.
INGREDIENTS
Olive Oil, enough to lightly coat bottom of large stock pot
6-9 garlic cloves, crushed 6 oz. tomato paste
1 1⁄2 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. thyme
1 tsp. basil
1 tsp. parsley
28 oz. tomato puree
28 oz. crushed tomatoes 1 lb. tomatoes, diced
2 lb. ground beef (substitute 1 lb. ground beef & 1 lb. Italian sausage (Hot or sweet or mix)
6 pieces of Pastosa fresh made Lasagna noodles (or 9-12 oven ready from box)
1 1⁄2 lb. ricotta cheese
2 lb. mozzarella cheese, cut into 33 square pieces all of same thickness
