This recipe is so easy. It is now a tradition that for the days leading up to St. Patrick’s Day we make several loaves to share with family, friends and co-workers. However, it is delicious anytime of the year!
INGREDIENTS
2 cups flour (heaping)
3 tsp. baking powder (heaping) 1⁄2 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of salt
1⁄2 - 1 cup sugar
1 tbsp. caraway seeds
1⁄2 box raisins
1 1⁄2 cups buttermilk
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350˚ F.
2. Mix dry ingredients.
3. Add raisins and buttermilk.
4. Shape into a round loaf and place on greased cookie sheet. Cut cross on top.
5. Bake for 30 minutes (or until toothpick, when inserted into center of bread and removed, comes out clean).
