With just a few easy steps and a short cooking time, these little treats have long been a favorite after school activity for my now UMass senior.
INGREDIENTS
1⁄4 cup softened butter 3 oz. cream cheese
1 cup flour
1⁄4 tsp. salt
3-4 tbsp. water
2 tbsp. softened butter 1⁄2 cup chopped walnuts 1⁄4 cup brown sugar
1⁄2 tsp. cinnamon
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 425˚ F. Grease the baking sheet (standard-size).
2. Mix 1⁄4 cup butter and cream cheese until smooth, add flour and salt.
3. Use fork to mix until pea-sized crumble. Add water 1 tablespoon at a time until ball can be formed.
4. Roll on floured surface to 12 x 9-inch rectangle.
5. Spread with 2 tablespoons softened butter. Mix walnuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon and spread on rectangle.
6. Roll up the long side with seam side down. Cut into 1⁄2-inch slices.
7. Place on greased baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes or until slightly browned.
