This recipe has been our Christmas morning breakfast for years!
INGREDIENTS
1⁄2 cup butter, melted
12 slices of Texas toast or 1⁄2 loaf left over French bread sliced 1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla extract
5 eggs
2 cups milk
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Melt butter then pour into 9x13 pan.
2. In a bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.
3. In another bowl, combine vanilla, eggs and milk together and beat well.
4. Layer bottom of pan with half of bread.
5. Sprinkle 1⁄2 of cinnamon sugar over bread layer, then add second layer of bread and sprinkle remaining sugar on top.
6. Pour egg mixture over entire pan making sure all bread is soaked.
7. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
8. Bake in preheated 375˚ F oven for 35-45 minutes uncovered. Top should be brown, and eggs set.
9. Serve warm with maple syrup.
