Nana’s Hot Pepper Cheese
Barone Family, Scotch Plains, NJ
“This is an easy appetizer from my son Robert’s grandmother that everyone loves! I always have the ingredients on hand for a quick app anytime.” Pam Barone
INGREDIENTS Serves 8
1 (12-ounce) jar sliced hot cherry peppers or hot banana peppers
10 ounces extra-sharp white cheddar cheese, shredded, plus more if needed
1 large egg
2 tablespoons milk
Sliced Italian bread or crackers, for serving

Preheat oven to 350°F.
Drain the peppers and
pat dry with paper towels. Remove and discard any stems. Arrange the peppers in a shallow 8-inch square baking dish.
Cover the peppers with the cheese. In a small bowl, beat together the egg and milk and pour over the cheese.
Bake until hot and bubbly, about 30 minutes. Serve with slices of Italian bread or crackers.
