5. Let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
6. To make the brown sugar icing, in a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, cream and butter and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Boil for 3 minutes, then remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla and confectioners’ sugar. Let cool, stirring occasionally.
7. Spread the icing over the cooled cake, then cut into squares.
